Real Newberry homes. Real work. Real people.

These stories are shared with respect. Names are used only when homeowners give us permission — and where they don't, we still let their situation be heard.

§ 03 · Real Stories

Real people. Real situations.

These are not campaign slogans. These are neighbors in and around Newberry. Their names — and their homes — deserve to be more than a statistic.

Ms. Betty Jo
Two years under a tarp

Ms. Betty Jo

Ms. Betty Jo had someone come in from out of town and remove the shingles from her home. She was left with only a tarp over her house for two years. Nobody wanted to help. Scarfo Construction & Roofing stepped in and put a new roof on her home.

Outcome
A new roof, a dry house, and dignity restored.
A rental left by her grandmother
Half-finished, then abandoned

A rental left by her grandmother

Jerri lives in North Carolina and owns a rental property in Newberry left to her by her grandmother. A contractor came in from out of town, tore out the bathroom, took her money, said the job would cost more, and never came back. Unity Roof Foundation exists for situations exactly like this.

Outcome
We finish what was abandoned — and stand between homeowners and bad actors.

Details are shared with respect and permission. Names of contractors involved in bad situations are intentionally not published. Our focus is on the homeowner and the repair.

The work is local.
Every dollar and every hour lands on a Newberry porch.
The waste is small.
We use leftover materials and salvage every board we can.
The dignity is protected.
We do not shame homeowners. Their story is theirs to tell.
There is another story to tell.

Yours could be the one that changes a life.

Whether you sponsor a repair, donate a stack of shingles, or spend a Saturday on a roof — your name gets written into someone's next chapter.
