Keeping Newberry Families
Safe, Dry, and in Their Homes.

Unity Roof Foundation helps elderly, disabled, low-income, and struggling homeowners repair unsafe living conditions — before small problems turn into lost homes.

“We are not waiting for someone else to care. We already live here, work here, and we are already helping.”

§ 01 · Our Mission

Small problems become lost homes. We step in first.

Our mission is to help low-income homeowners, elderly residents, disabled residents, widows, veterans, and families in need repair unsafe living conditions before small problems turn into lost homes.

We use leftover construction materials, tools, donated supplies, volunteer labor, and relationships with local contractors to put roofs back on, floors back down, and dignity back where it belongs.

§ 02 · Why It Matters

One repair
can save
a whole home.

Right now, in and around Newberry, people are living with leaking roofs, rotten floors, unsafe bathrooms, and dangerous electrical work. Not because they don't care about their homes — but because they cannot afford the repairs.

Some have been taken advantage of by bad contractors. Some paid money for work that never got finished. Some have been waiting years for someone to show up.

Unity Roof Foundation exists because that is not okay. And because we can do something about it.

§ 03 · Real Stories

Real people. Real situations.

These are not campaign slogans. These are neighbors in and around Newberry. Their names — and their homes — deserve to be more than a statistic.

Ms. Betty Jo
Two years under a tarp

Ms. Betty Jo

Ms. Betty Jo had someone come in from out of town and remove the shingles from her home. She was left with only a tarp over her house for two years. Nobody wanted to help. Scarfo Construction & Roofing stepped in and put a new roof on her home.

Outcome
A new roof, a dry house, and dignity restored.
A rental left by her grandmother
Half-finished, then abandoned

A rental left by her grandmother

Jerri lives in North Carolina and owns a rental property in Newberry left to her by her grandmother. A contractor came in from out of town, tore out the bathroom, took her money, said the job would cost more, and never came back. Unity Roof Foundation exists for situations exactly like this.

Outcome
We finish what was abandoned — and stand between homeowners and bad actors.

Details are shared with respect and permission. Names of contractors involved in bad situations are intentionally not published. Our focus is on the homeowner and the repair.

§ 04 · About

Built by people who
already serve this community.

My name is Keitha Scarfo. My husband, Joe, owns Scarfo Construction & Roofing here in Newberry, South Carolina. We make our living through construction and roofing, and we understand what it costs to fix a home the right way.

Through Unity Roof Foundation, we take what we can — leftover materials, tools, labor, time, money, and contractor relationships — and put it back into the community.

This is not a talking point. This is what we do.
